Crystal Palace could shortly get a deal over the line for Italian full-back Davide Calabria, according to reports – with the Eagles keen on bulking out their squad ahead of their first-ever European campaign after winning the FA Cup back in May.
Much of the noise around Selhurst Park this summer has been around potential departures, with Marc Guehi, Adam Wharton and Eberechi Eze all being touted with moves away from south London, whilst only Walter Benitez has come in as backup for Dean Henderson. But that could change soon, with Calabria a supposed target to bulk out their squad ahead of what will be a busy season.
Report: Crystal Palace ‘Very Interested’ in Davide Calabria
The 28-year-old is without a club and could make the move to south London
The report by Sky Sports journalist Gianluca di Marzio states that there is a possibility to play in the Premier League for Calabria this season, with Palace having made a move for him.

His loan deal with Bologna has expired, as has his contract with AC Milan, leaving the 28-year-old without a club for the time being. Palace are thought to be ‘very interested’ in the star, where they are thought to be ‘advancing’ for the Italian international.
Di Marzio believes that a deal could accelerate ‘decisively’ within the next few hours, and although he has had contact with three La Liga sides in Celta Vigo, Real Betis and Mallorca, Palace remain ahead for the time being with a move to London, and specifically the Premier League, being enticing.
Calabria has not played outside of Italy at any point in his career, but a move to Palace – who are set to feature in either the Europa League or Conference League next season – could be on the cards to see him try his hand in what many deem to be the best league in the world.
Daniel Munoz has all but tied down the right-wing-back slot at Selhurst Park, whilst Nathaniel Clyne is the backup. However, Clyne is 34 years of age,and Calabria would represent a younger, more experienced backup to the Stockwell-born star – boasting six years on the 14-time England international.
Key Statistic: Davide Calabria has made seven appearances for Italy’s senior squad.
£63,000-a-week star Calabria came through AC Milan’s youth ranks, making his debut in the 2014/15 season, before making the first-team spot his own in 2017/18 – and with 221 Serie A appearances, he comes with a wealth of experience that would rival Munoz for minutes.
