Max Verstappen (NED, Oracle Red Bull Racing); Siegerehrung, Award Ceremony; Zweitplatzierter, Silbermedaille, silver medal
Hasselt, Belgium — July 7, 2025
In a moving and powerful gesture that transcends the racetrack, Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen has launched the “A Hope Rising Foundation”, a charitable initiative focused on improving the lives of children with disabilities in Hasselt, the capital of Limburg in Belgium.
Known for his record-breaking speed and precision behind the wheel, Verstappen is now racing toward a different kind of finish line: a future where every child, regardless of ability, has access to healthcare, essential needs, inclusive education, and a loving community.
Driven by Compassion
At an emotional unveiling ceremony in Hasselt’s city center, Max appeared alongside children, families, medical staff, and volunteers, announcing that the foundation will focus on four pillars:
- Free specialized healthcare and therapy
- Nutrition, clothing, and hygiene essentials
- Inclusive education resources and adaptive learning programs
- Community love through play spaces, mentorship, and care
With tears in his eyes, Verstappen shared: “Every child deserves to be seen, heard, and loved. I’ve been fortunate in life, and now it’s time to create something that brings hope — something bigger than myself. This foundation is for the kids of Hasselt and every child who’s ever felt forgotten.”
Support from Around the Globe
The announcement sent waves through the F1 community, with fellow drivers, teams, and fans voicing admiration for the Dutch-Belgian star. Red Bull Racing issued a statement saying, “Max’s heart is as big as his talent. We’re proud to support his foundation every step of the way.”
Belgium’s Minister of Social Affairs called the project “a historic leap forward for children with disabilities in Flanders,” pledging government support and collaborative efforts.
Why Hasselt?
Though Verstappen races under the Dutch flag, he has deep roots in Belgium, having been born in Hasselt and raised nearby. “Hasselt is where my story began,” he explained. “Now it’s where a new chapter of hope begins for countless children.”
Looking Ahead
Max concluded the event with a message that resonated deeply: “We all talk about greatness in sports — but this, this is about greatness in humanity. Let’s build something beautiful together.”
As balloons were released into the sky bearing messages of hope from the children of Hasselt, one thing was certain — Max Verstappen has just made his most meaningful podium finish yet.
