Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD Foundation has donated $100,000 to Texas Southern University’s Ocean of Soul Marching Band, enhancing the band’s musical and academic programs. This contribution aims to provide scholarships, support recruitment and retention efforts, and upgrade the band’s infrastructure and technology .
The Ocean of Soul Marching Band previously collaborated with Beyoncé during the 2024 Christmas Day NFL halftime show, known as the “Beyoncé Bowl,” which was streamed live on Netflix. Over 200 members of the band performed alongside the artist, showcasing their signature sound and precision .
This donation reflects Beyoncé’s ongoing commitment to supporting Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and their cultural impact. As Texas Southern University President J.W. Crawford III stated, “We are deeply appreciative of the BeyGOOD Foundation for this significant demonstration of its commitment to empowering our student musicians and elevating their form of artistic expression”
